Tour Guide in Florence

We are walking now on the bank of the River Arno.

Arno is the name of the main river of Florence. We are going to reach the historical center of Florence, the oldest part of the city. Florence is a very old city it was founded more than 2000 th years ago. At the beginning Florence was just a roman camp, it was founded exactly in 59 before christ as a roman camp by Cesar.

So Florence is born as a settlement but along the centuries became one of the most importart cities of Italy.

In the middle age Florence, mostly since the 13 century Florence became powerful tanks too many corporations, in others wolrds many guilds which used to control the economy of the city. The most important guild was the guild of the woodmakers.

So Florence from the economic point of view, became important since the 13 century, in the and since the 15 century it became a very important city thanks to the Medici Family.
